MAB In Action Workshop - July 30, 2012

RosBREED is hosting a one-day Workshop!

  • Who should attend this workshop? All U.S. Rosaceae breeders (public and private). Any other personnel associated with breeding programs and committed to their efficiency and success are invited to attend!
  • Why should I attend this workshop? You will get to use first-hand the tools, technologies, and techniques that RosBREED is developing for breeders to enable you to more efficiently develop new varieties. Folks - this is a WORKSHOP. This will not be death by PowerPoint!
  • Alright! I’m coming! What do I need to do to prepare? Simply register by e-mailing Cholani Weebadde (weebadde@msu.edu). If you can’t wait until July to hear more, e-mail Cameron Peace, our fearless MAB Team Leader, for a private consultation (cpeace@wsu.edu)!

Community Breeders’ Page - Newsletter Article

Project co-director Dr. Cameron Peace has an ongoing feature article titled “Community Breeders’ Page” in the quarterly Newsletter since Nov 2010. This article focuses on the MAB Pipeline and how to use it. Polished "jewels in the genome" that you can use in breeding now are described and provided in an accessible format. Below are links to pdfs of these articles and other resources.

Demo Breeders Survey

A survey of demonstration breeder data and software needs and opinions was conducted in 2010.  The blank form used in that survey can be found here: (click here to view the survey form).

Software

An introduction to Pedimap software, used to visualize breeding data across pedigrees, was provided at the 2010 American Society for Horticultural Science annual conference. Access the presentation here. Currently, RosBREED's 12 demonstration breeders are using Pedimap (click here for more information regarding this software and to request a free copy).

Jewels in the Genome

Project Director Dr. Amy Iezzoni has a feature column in our regular Newsletter titled "Jewels in the Genome." Below are links to pdfs of these articles.

Phenotyping Protocols

We have added our phenotyping protocols, developed by each crop team, in the form of written steps and videos. Please click here to access both.
