RosBREED III San Diego
Once again the RosBREED participants came together to meet with their Advisory Panel members (AP) for the Third Annual meeting, RosBREED III, in San Diego, CA on January 12, 2012. The RosBREED Executive Committee presented to the AP members project outcomes, impacts and challenges faced during the second year of the project as well as projected outcomes and impacts for year 3, to obtain valuable input and feed back as we step into activities of year 3. Present at this meeting were 24 AP Members and 22 project participants.
With two more years left for completion of the project, the highlight of the meeting was the feedback obtained from the AP members on “how we are doing on where we are now” and “where we should be headed” for a potential renewal of RosBREED. It was encouraging that appreciating the current efforts, the AP members unanimously agreed on submitting a proposal for renewing the current RosBREED project to include more Rosaceae crops and traits and the knowledge of allied scientists working on the genetic basis of agronomically important traits for the benefit of the Rosaceae community. Dr. Lailiang Cheng (AP Member; Allied Scientist at Cornell University) stated, “The project is progressing very well and I’m pressed by the progress the team has made. Great job!”
